Nvidia Surpasses Apple to Become the World’s Largest Company Amid AI Surge
Nvidia achieved a significant milestone on Tuesday by surpassing Apple’s market capitalization, positioning it as the world’s largest company. This remarkable change comes as Nvidia benefits from a global surge in artificial intelligence (AI) technology. According to Bloomberg, the chipmaker has seen its value skyrocket by an astonishing 850% since late 2022.
At the close of the market, Nvidia was valued at $3.43 trillion, comfortably exceeding Apple’s valuation of $3.38 trillion. This event marks the second time this year that Nvidia has overtaken Apple; a similar occurrence happened in June, though Nvidia held the top position for just one day back then.
As the AI landscape evolves, Apple has recently launched its own initiative in generative AI called Apple Intelligence. Meanwhile, Nvidia continues to serve as a core component in the development of the top large language models worldwide. As of the end of October, there have been reports from Reuters indicating that OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is collaborating with Broadcom to create its own proprietary systems.
