Hyundai Motor Group Limits Employee Access to DeepSeek AI Service
SEOUL, Feb. 7 -- Hyundai Motor Group has decided to restrict its employees from using DeepSeek, a generative artificial intelligence (AI) service developed in China. This action stems from rising concerns about the potential risks of data leaks associated with this AI technology.
The restriction was communicated through an internal notice issued by Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp. on Wednesday. Employees located at the headquarters in Seoul were informed that their access to DeepSeek would be blocked to safeguard information security.
This ban is not limited to the parent company but also extends to other subsidiaries within Hyundai Motor Group, including Hyundai Mobis Co., Hyundai Wia Co., and Hyundai Glovis Co..
Moreover, company officials have indicated that the same restrictions will be implemented at their international operations in the near future. This proactive measure aligns with actions recently adopted by various South Korean government agencies and private businesses, reflecting a collective response to the escalating concerns over data privacy risks related to Chinese AI services.
The headquarters of Hyundai Motor Group, shown in a recent photograph, is located in southern Seoul. This decision underscores the emphasis that companies and government entities are placing on protecting sensitive information from potential breaches.
