Tech Mahindra Launches AI Centre of Excellence with Nvidia Collaboration

Published October 24, 2024

Tech Mahindra Ltd. has announced the launch of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) powered by Nvidia platforms. This new initiative aims to promote advancements in sovereign large language models, agentic artificial intelligence, and physical AI technologies.

Project Indus 2.0 Focuses on Diverse Sectors

The Centre of Excellence operates on the Tech Mahindra Optimized Framework and utilizes the Nvidia AI Enterprise software platform, including tools such as NeMo, NIM microservices, and Rapids. These resources enable the CoE to create customized and enterprise-grade agentic AI applications. Agentic AI enhances productivity by allowing AI applications to learn, reason, and take action on their own.

Furthermore, the CoE leverages Nvidia's Omniverse platform to develop connected industrial AI digital twins and physical AI applications across various sectors, including manufacturing, automotive, telecommunications, healthcare, and banking.

Building upon the capabilities of the CoE, Tech Mahindra has introduced Project Indus 2.0. This advanced AI model, powered by NeMo, is designed to support languages such as Hindi, Bhojpuri, Dogri, and Maithili. Project Indus 2.0 aims to cater to industries like retail, banking, healthcare, and citizen services in India. Future plans for Indus 2.0 include integrating agentic workflows and supporting additional dialects.

Transforming Customer Service with AI

In addition to its foundational work, Tech Mahindra will utilize the newly developed Nvidia NIM Agent Blueprint for customer service. This innovative tool will help clients in call centers design custom AI virtual assistants that can assist human agents in quickly resolving customer issues.

Atul Soneja, Chief Operating Officer of Tech Mahindra, commented on the collaboration with Nvidia, stating, "We are setting a new benchmark for enterprise-grade AI development by seamlessly integrating generative AI, industrial AI, and sovereign large language models into the core of global enterprises and industries." This partnership is expected to accelerate the development and adoption of AI applications tailored specifically for India's diverse industries and linguistic landscape.

The CoE is strategically located within Tech Mahindra's Makers Lab in both Pune and Hyderabad, reinforcing the company's commitment to driving innovation in AI.
