Trump's Gaza Plan: No Rush to Implement
On February 8, in Washington D.C., President Donald Trump stated that he is in no hurry to move forward with his plan for Gaza. During a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, he emphasized his lack of urgency, saying, "No rush to do anything."
Trump expressed that the Gaza plan has been "very well received" thus far, but he acknowledged that there have not been any further discussions on it. He described the situation as one that could be considered like a "real estate transaction." He believes that having a U.S. presence and investment in Gaza could significantly contribute to fostering peace in the region.
Regarding security in Gaza, Trump indicated that Israel would be responsible. This statement coincided with remarks made on February 4, when Trump held a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He revealed plans for the U.S. to potentially consider long-term control of the Gaza Strip, with intentions to develop the area to enhance peace efforts in the Middle East.
Additionally, Trump suggested relocating Palestinians from Gaza to other neighboring countries as part of his strategy. He hinted at the possibility of deploying U.S. military forces to Gaza if the situation necessitated such action.
However, Trump's proposals have met with resistance. Arab nations, including Iran and various Western countries, have voiced opposition to his ideas. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Russia has taken note of Trump's plan, but acknowledged that both Egypt and Jordan have declined to participate in the proposed initiative.
