Canadian Brewery Offers 1,461 Beers to Cope with Trump's Presidency

Published March 12, 2025

A Canadian brewery has come up with a unique way to help people cope with the challenges posed by the presidency of Donald Trump. Moosehead, based in Saint John, New Brunswick, has introduced what they call the "Presidential Pack," which contains a whopping 1,461 cans of beer. This quantity is designed to provide one can of Canadian lager every day for the next four years, which is the expected duration of a presidential term.

For those feeling overwhelmed by the news cycle, this promotional pack could be just the remedy. Moosehead’s marketing team is promoting it as "just enough Canadian lagers to get through a full presidential term." The pack includes 473-millilitre cans—one for each day, even accounting for leap years.

Karen Grigg, Moosehead's marketing director, expressed surprise at the overwhelming response from customers. She noted that they initially produced only five Presidential Packs, each priced at $3,490 plus tax and deposit. Remarkably, the first pack sold in just 11 minutes, and all five were gone within 24 hours. These have proven so popular that the brewery decided to create an additional five packs, which also sold out quickly. This surge in interest indicates a great desire among consumers to engage with the product in lighthearted ways.

Customers Celebrating with Moosehead Beer

Many customers are planning to use their beers for festive occasions such as Canada Day and other community events, rather than rationing them over four years. Grigg commented on the variety of reasons people have for purchasing these packs, highlighting how each buyer has their unique celebration planned, whether it’s parades or gatherings at campgrounds.

However, experts suggest that beer may not remain at its best quality for such an extended period. The promotional campaign is also intended to encourage Canadians to rally around domestic products, especially as Trump's tariffs on Canadian goods create economic strain.

The Presidential Pack is currently available exclusively to residents of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Ontario. Grigg mentioned that interprovincial trade restrictions limit their ability to sell across Canada. Fortunately, recent agreements among provincial governments may soon remove these barriers and allow for wider distribution.

Meanwhile, as provinces respond to trade tensions by promoting Canadian products, Moosehead continues to work out logistics for delivering the packs to customers across its limited regions. Grigg affirmed the company’s commitment to ensuring that each customer receives their crate of beer, regardless of the delivery challenges ahead.

Conclusion

As Moosehead navigates these challenges and the excitement surrounding its Presidential Pack, the brewery embraces both Canadian pride and the quest to lighten the burdens of today's political climate. The combination of humor and hospitality may just be what people need to get through the tough times.
